Plans Required to Obtain a Building Permit

PLANS (Blueprints or Drawings):  


All plans should clearly show:

  • Sufficient detail to allow a builder to fully construct the project.
  • Foundation type and specifications
  • Lumber sizes and spacing (e.g., floor joists, wall studs)
  • Roof construction details (e.g., rafters, trusses, hips, valleys)
  • Window and door locations and dimensions

At a minimum, the following plans are required:

  • Site Plan – Show all existing buildings, bodies of water, wetlands, and County Drain easements located on the property.
  • Cross Section
  • Foundation Plan
  • Floor Plan
  • Elevation Plan

A copy of all submitted plans will be retained by the Building Department. Commercial projects must include plans that are signed and sealed by a registered architect or engineer.
