What is Hazardous Waste?
Hazardous Waste, items that fit any one or combination of the characteristics below, can be dangerous to the health of people, pets, and the environment if disposed of improperly. A product is considered hazardous if it has one or more of the following properties:
Toxic- Poisonous or lethal when ingested, touched or inhaled
Flammable- ignitable and burns easily
Corrosive- eats through materials and living tissue
Reactive- can possibly explode or react with other chemicals
Improper disposal of Hazardous Waste includes but isn't limited to:
- Flushing it down the drain
- Dumping it onto the ground
- Spilling it in the trash or recycling bin
