Corrections Deputies must meet requirements set forth by the Michigan Sheriffs' Coordinating and Training Council. Montcalm Community College now offers written and physical testing for Corrections Deputy candidates. LCOPAT and EMPCO Testing | Montcalm Community College. The Sheriff's Office is currently accepting applications for Corrections Deputy positions.
Law Enforcement Services (Patrol) Deputies must meet requirements set forth by the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES). The Sheriff's Office is currently accepting applications from both MCOLES certified/certifiable candidates, as well as non-certified recruit candidates, for Patrol Deputy positions. Montcalm County serves 20 townships consisting of a combined 720 square miles. The duties of Law Enforcement Services Deputies include patrol, criminal investigation, traffic enforcement, quelling disturbances, and traffic crash investigations. The duties of Corrections Deputies include maintaining orderly operations of the 205-bed facility.
